A Rutherford County office of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee has just been opened in Murfreesboro. This office marks the first satellite location of the premiere Middle Tennessee youth mentoring organization headquartered in Nashville.
“We have always served children in need of a positive adult role model in Murfreesboro and throughout Rutherford County,” commented Lowell Perry, Jr. – CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee. “But we saw the potential in Rutherford County for many more children to benefit from a mentor, and we are confident that the volunteers and financial support will come from this community.”
The Murfreesboro location will be staffed by professional social workers who interview and screen both prospective volunteers and children entering into the program. Last year the mentoring group served over 100 Rutherford County children with a one-to-one mentor, and currently there are nineteen on a waiting list for a Big Brother or Big Sister.
